Let's Get a Move On!

We are packed and ready to go.  I don't even know why I am on here when I should be in bed since it's after 12am.  I see that it's been awhile since I've blogged - maybe it's guilt.  You know, because all of you are sitting at your pc biting your nails just waaaaiting for me to post.  HA!

We said bye to our new friends last night.  We went to see the National Christmas and had dinner at Johnny Rockets (fun for kids, and me too).  We'll miss them and are thankful God gave them to us for our time in DC.  Bye Lewis family - you're always friends to us!

I'm going to miss DC.  I enjoyed the sights.  I enjoyed the diversity.  I enjoyed the traveling to points north, south, east & west of here.  I will always treasure the gift God is giving us from here to raise as our child.  We'll never forget this place and the lessons learned that brought us here, kept us here and now return us home.  Thank you Lord!

Caden's Little Mind

Thought I...
I got four boxes and brought them up to our apartment to pack some things for moving day. Caden & I returned to the apartment and he promptly got to work.  The boxes disappeared one by one so I went to his room to see what he was doing.  He had box 1 on his bed with him and packed all his animals, blankets, two apt pillows and of course his baby (what we gave him when we told him we're going to have a baby).  He said "we not leave them here, them go Ok-wa-homa wis us mommy.  We not weave them here".  He proceeded to his bathroom with box 2 and packed his toothbrushes, toothpaste & hand soap.  In our room box 3 had two Bibles, magazine, newspaper, baby journal and THE REMOTE!  Finally box 4 had a couple of shirts and socks I had just folded.  I have been chuckling all day about this.  Glad to know I have a partner to help me pack.  :-)

Thought II...
Caden and I were in my bed cuddling and eating a popcorn snack after nap time.  He laid his head on my belly and suddenly asked "where baby", which means pull your shirt up mommy.   He put his head on my belly and said "hi baby, we just eating popcorn and watching TV".  I told him when I eat popcorn it goes down to the baby and the baby eats it too.  He promptly picked up a piece and shoved it into my mouth for the baby and said "it going to the baby now?"He then got one and put it in his mouth and said "I eat one for my baby too".  He is decided that he has a baby in his belly too.

I enjoy the world (and this pregnancy) through the eyes of my Sweet Boy!

What it means to be an adult

Two nights ago at the dinner table Caden made his usual request "I want some of dat" - referring to the salt and pepper.  We responded to his request with no son you don't want this, it's hot and adults eat this.  He proceeded with his usual survey of our likes & dislikes, asking "daddy, you wike dat" and "mommy you wike dat"?

Fast forward.
Today at nap time we were reading the story of Jesus' birth.  I told him how Jesus was born and he grew up.  Caden looked at the page and said, "where the big boy?"  I said that's in the next story, he's a little boy here.

He then asked the same question he does everyday, 21 times a day - "where daddy".  I reminded him why daddy's goes to work and that some adults work at an office, some at home and some at a school.

Caden then told me "mommy i grow up bigger big (hand motions included) and i go to work and eat hot pepper and be adult".

Oh, so THAT's what it means to be an adult.   :-)

Potty Training, or is it Mommy training?

Well this is no easy task.  We have been potty training Caden since mid-August.  Some weeks are superior to others and then there are the days when we take a gazillion steps back, or so it seems.

I hear it takes time.  I hear each child is different.  I hear rewards help.  I hear... a lot of things, but what I don't hear is that it will be over soon.  Is there any end in sight?

I'm not frustrated, that was yesterday. :-)  I spent the day praying for God to let me know if we should stop for a while and give us all a break.  Just give me a peace about it Lord.

The answer is no Nadia!  Looks like we're supposed to potty on for now because today Caden has told me all day when he needs to go and that he wants to do it "by myself mommy, I not need you".  This may sound like it should hurt my feelings, contrary, this gives me such joy and pride.

Guess for now the key is to let my sweet boy do it "by myself"....

Christ-mas Thoughts

Caden is napping and I'm typing my first blog post.  I could be napping too, but guess I've chosen this as more important - I'll long for that nap in about 2 hours.

Tonight is the Capitol Building Christmas Tree Lighting so Caden & I will meet Adam at the nation's capitol after work to see this.  I love Christmas!

I find myself so cautious of how much I talk about Santa vs Jesus Christ, receiving presents vs giving gifts, Santa coming vs Jesus' birthday.  I don't want my son to look at Christmas as Santa's Day but Jesus' Birthday.

I ache deep down for Caden and our baby to know that Christ loves them, created them and is next to them.

If they grow up knowing only one fact of this life I want it to be that they were created for God and by God because God is not a distant being but a present friend.

Blog Purpose

I'm now "Blog-a-licious"!
I plan to use this blog to record and share the life of my son, Caden
and the life of our child on the way.
I record what Caden does and says in a notebook, but my typing looks far better than my penmanship so this is the better choice.
I hope you enjoy and I hope I keep up with it.
